Question by a link to the past: Can a personal virus-removal business succeed? How would you approach marketing?
I have a personal science degree and a vision of providing a virus-removal service to local customers. Plenty of home-computer owners are infecting their personal with viruses and spyware each day, and they only need to know that my business exists. How can I effectively advertise to such a market? Do you think such a business is viable, when it targets such a specific service?
Clearly, I have competition from the national guys who wage in-home service. I would distinguish myself by specializing in virus and spyware removal. Also, I would lease an office if this would sufficiently help with perception of legitimacy.

Sounds like a somewhat narrow focus for a business. You might want to think about providing much broader services.
